Tyler School of Art Receives $1Million for Glass Department

Earlier this week we had a tour of the glass studio at Temple University’s Tyler School of Art. So it was a pleasant surprise to read in this morning’s Inquirer of the $1 million gift by Philadelphia philanthropists and art collectors Irvin J. Borowsky and Laurie Wagman to the glass program, located in the sparkling new facility at 12th and Norris Streets at the North Philadelphia campus. A little googling around brought us to this Newsworks story about the gift, which will be used to more visiting artists for the program. Pictured above, in the Newsworks photo, is glass chair Sharyn O’Mara inspecting works by Madeline Rile Smith. Similar works by Madeline are now on display at the Gravers Lane Gallery in Chestnut Hill (through November 4th.)
